16th Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival Announces its 62 Film Program

The Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) has released the program for its 16th festival which will take place from Thursday, October 10th through Monday, October 14th. The 5-day event will highlight the best films and showcase both the auters and amatuers from 14 different Latin filmmaking countries. See www.latinofilm.org for the detailed program.
"We are very excited and honored to have this record breaking number of Premieres presented at LALIFF," said Marlene Dermer, Co-founder/Executive Director/Programmer of LALIFF. "16 years and it keeps getting better because of the films." added co-founder Edward James Olmos.
The Closing Night Presentation (Monday, October 14th) of Gary Alazraki's NOSOTROS LOS NOBLES will serve as the capstone for an impressive lineup that will feature 62 films, including 28 features, 11 documentaries and 23 shorts. In addition to the film screenings, the festival will host filmmaker panels on Saturday, October 12th and Sunday, October 13th. The Closing Night Gala will include an after-party presented by Cine Latino.
A diverse selection of award-winning films make up this year's program. The featured titles include LA PISCINA by Carlos Machado; TANTA AGUA by Ana Guevara and Leticia Jorge; LA PAZ by Santiago Loza and CARNE DE PERRO by Fernando Guzzoni. Directorial debuts like WATER & POWER by Richard Montoya, based off his acclaimed play by the same name; American films dealing with community issues such as DREAMER by Jesse Salmeron; GREENCARD WARRIOR by Miriam Kruishoop and OUR BOYS by Ricagni are also a part of the lineup. Emerging cinema from Latin America including POLVO by Julio Hernandez, PRINCESAS ROJAS by Laura Astorga and MEU PAIS by Andre Ristum, featuring Rodrigo Sartoro will be showcased as well. Powerful documentaries such as NARCO CULTURA by Shaul Schwarz and EL ALCALDE by Emiliano Altuna are also on the list. Lastly, notable Cuban actor/director Jorge Perugurria's tribute to Cuban cinema, AMOR CRONICO, will make its west coast premiere, and Xavi Puebla will debut his film, A PUERTA FRIA, starring renowned actor Nick Nolte.
