By: Ryan Swearingen | October 23, 2012

David Gallo Hosts \
Stated Magazine (www.statedmag.com), an online arts & culture magazine, announces its four-week series of discussions with top scenic designers moderated by David Gallo, found at www.statedmag.com/scenic-roundtable.

For each of the four weeks, Gallo poses a different question to a group of leading scenic designers, including Rob Bissinger, Beowulf Boritt, Riccardo Hernandez, Christine Jones, and G.W. "Skip" Mercier. Discussions explore topics such as whom the designer serves, philosophies of art, the moment of artistic creation, and designers' inspirations.

The all-star panel assembled by Gallo boasts credits from all manner of entertainment design. Rob Bissinger's designs include Lucky Guy (Little Shubert), City Club (Minetta Lane), Jacques Brel... (The Zipper), and countless regional and international projects, including serving as Associate Designer for Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark on Broadway. Beowulf Boritt's Broadway designs include The Scottsboro Boys (Tony nomination), Rock of Ages, Chaplin, and Sondheim on Sondheim, among many others. Christine Jones is designer and Artistic Director of Theatre for One, a portable private performing arts space for one actor and one audience member, and her designs for Broadway include American Idiot (Tony Award), On a Clear Day, Spring Awakening, Everyday Rapture, and The Green Bird. G.W. "Skip" Mercier's designs include Sarah Ruhl's Dead Man's Cell Phone (Playwrights' Horizons), Urban Zulu Mambo (Signature Theatre), and True History and Real Adventures at The Vineyard Theatre, where he is a resident artist.

The "Scenic Designers' Roundtable" is Stated Magazine's second panel series following the "Actors' Roundtable" moderated by New York actor Paden Fallis, now in its second 12-week cycle. Participants include international actors such as Arian Moayed (Tony-nominated for Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo), William Belchambers (Shakespeare's Globe), Thomas Ward (The Unseen, Off-Broadway), Helen Hayes Award winner Erika Rose, and more.
