Newport Beach Film Festival seeks to bring to Southern California the best of classic and contemporary filmmaking from around the world. The 18th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival will take place April 20th-April 27th, 2017.

The Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF) is now open for submissions in all genres and categories. NBFF will celebrate its 18th anniversary with an action-packed line up of independent and studio films from around the globe. Scheduled to take place April 20th - April 27th, 2017 throughout Newport Beach and Orange County, the Festival will screen an international slate of over 400 films, including feature-length narrative, documentary, short, animated and student films that will compete for a series of Jury, Festival Honors and Audience Awards.

During its eight day run, the Festival will feature an astounding array of nightly special events including red carpet premieres, gala celebrations, filmmaker receptions, compelling filmmaker Q & A sessions, international spotlights, popular industry seminars, musical performances, fashion shows and retrospectives. The Festival will host numerous opportunities to connect with enthusiastic new audiences, fellow filmmakers, film industry professionals, non-profit organizations and members of the media.

NBFF has been named one of the "25 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee" by Movie Maker Magazine, NBFF hosts premiere red carpet galas, film industry professionals, a popular industry seminar series, filmmaker receptions and Q&A sessions with the filmmakers. Past guests have included: McG, Aaron Sorkin, John Lee Hancock, Jon Favreau, John Waters, Alan Arkin, Richard Sherman, and Linda Woolverton. Since its inception, the Festival has presented many acclaimed films such as the U.S. Premiere of Crash and other notable films including Oscar Winner Mr. Humboldt, (500) Days of Summer, The Way Way Back, Broadway Idiot, Chef, The Cove, Waitress, Silk, Death Note: The Last Name, The Illusionist, Mad Hot Ballroom, Metallica: Some Kind of Monster, and Born into Brothels.

Special Programs planned for 2017 NBFF include the following: Action Sports Film Series, Environmental Film Series, Art, Architecture + Design Film Series, Music Film Series, Family Film Series, Collegiate Showcase, Music Video Showcase, Youth Film Showcase, and our free Seminar Series.
