Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti Presents Film Awards

Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti Presents Film Awards
The California On Location Awards (COLA) marks its milestone 21st year with the annual ceremony and show taking place on October 11, 2015 in the International ballroom of the Beverly Hilton, legendary cross roads of elegant and historic Hollywood events. There over 500 entertainment industry executives, producers, directors, and other production professionals gather along with distinguished community leaders to celebrate this state's signature industry. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and entertainment industry notables will act as presenters of the prestigious awards. Nelson Coates, noted production designer along with TV host and entertainment reporter, Ms. Stuart Brazell, will join them on stage.

Masters of Ceremonies are award winning actor Tony Denison who has a long list of television credits including the hit TV series "The Closer" and "Major Crimes." Denison will be joined by acclaimed actor Geoff Stults known for key roles in the feature films "Wedding Crashers," and the Clint Eastwood directed "J. Edgar" opposite Leonardo DiCaprio.

Sheri Davis, at that time Executive Director of the Inland Empire Film Commission, conceived the COLA program to celebrate the artistic talent, skill and ingenuity of location professionals working in California who play a pivotal role in bringing together creative vision with practical logistics to bring movies and television shows to life. Davis commented, "The work of location managers is highly complex with an advanced level of responsibility that touches every production department. They are the backbone of the film industry, the public face of production and ambassadors of the studios when filming on location." Executive Director of the California Film Commission, Amy Lemisch, noted, "Over the last 21 years, the California On Location Awards has become one of the premier events to recognize key behind the scenes talent in film, television and commercial production."

The result of an extensive judging process that involves film commissioners and a panel of fourteen notable production professionals and executives will culminate in awards presented to individual location managers and location teams in various categories for outstanding professional performance while working on location in California. As location managers frequently have important interactions with government officials, public employees from the city, county, state and federal sectors across California are also honored for excelling in their service while facilitating filming projects. L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti will present the public employee awards.

COLA is the annual signature production of the Film Liaisons In California Statewide (FLICS), a nonprofit corporation with membership composed of over 40 film commissions throughout the Golden state. Each individual film office associated with the FLICS partners with location managers and production companies to provide local expertise in location and production support. Noting that entertainment production is the state's signature industry and a vital contributor to California's economy, Janice Arrington, FLICS President and Orange County Film Commissioner described the foundational goals of the FLICS organization. "To foster economic development, FLICS work to attract, retain and facilitate filming, and serve as the bridge between local communities and production companies," Arrington said.

The California On Location Awards is under the organizational direction of Co Chairs Charla Teeters, FLICS Vice President and Executive Director of the Imperial County Film Commission and Janice Arrington, FLICS President and Orange County Film Commissioner. Chairs Emeritus are Sheri Davis, director of both the Big Bear Film Office and the Greater Palm Springs Film Office and Film Alliance and Pauline East, Executive Director of the Antelope Valley Film Office. The dynamic awards show is produced and directed by an experienced veteran of televised and live shows, Rajan Shandil. COLA is made possible through the sponsorship support of major studios, TV networks, production companies as well as organizations and business associated with the entertainment industry.
