In Los Angeles flooring is the general term for blanketing the level base of a room with some type of covering and/or surface laminate. These would include carpeting (a textile with an upper level of "pile" attached to a backing), hardwood, vinyl, ceramic & carpet tiles, indoor/outdoor carpeting, studio & stage flooring, etc. Used in set design, flooring, carpeting and different surfaces may act as an integral prop in a production's "action", eg. someone slipping & falling on a hardwood floor.
