A Heartfelt Thank You… and an Exciting New Chapter

After nearly ten incredible years serving as Regional Film Commissioner, it is with both gratitude and excitement that I share I will be transitioning from my role effective June 30, 2026.

When I accepted this position in 2016, I could never have imagined the journey ahead. What I discovered was much more than an industry-I found a community built on collaboration, creativity, resilience, and heart. It has been an incredible honor to serve our region while supporting filmmakers from around the world and witnessing firsthand the positive impact filmmaking can have on our local communities.

Looking back, I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together. The film commission expanded from serving Shasta County to becoming a regional office representing Shasta, Tehama, Yuba, and Sutter Counties. Along the way, we strengthened relationships with local governments, businesses, property owners, permitting agencies, and industry partners while continuing to build our reputation as a welcoming, film-friendly destination.

Together, we hosted hundreds of productions that generated millions of dollars in local economic impact while showcasing the beauty and diversity of Northern California to audiences around the world. Every dollar invested in the program returned an estimated $9-$14 to our local economy-supporting hotels, restaurants, retailers, construction trades, transportation providers, local crew, and countless small businesses throughout our region. Beyond the economic benefits, we also had the privilege of investing in the future of our industry by creating opportunities for local youth to learn from working professionals, gain hands-on production experience, and discover career pathways through film. Seeing the next generation inspired by storytelling and the creative arts has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.

None of this would have been possible without you.

To everyone who has been part of this journey-our city and county leaders, permitting agencies, business owners, tourism partners, educational institutions, filmmakers, volunteers, property owners, community members, and supporters-thank you. Every successful project has been the result of countless people working together behind the scenes, and I am deeply grateful for the trust, collaboration, and friendships built over the years.

While I am saying goodbye to my role with the UpState California Film Commission, I am not saying goodbye to California's film industry. Beginning July 1, I am honored to begin a new chapter with Film Liaisons in California Statewide (FLICS), where I will continue advocating for California as a premier filming destination while supporting film offices throughout the state. I am truly grateful for this opportunity to continue serving an industry that has given me so much.

I am equally excited to introduce the next chapter for our local film offices. Tyler Lockamy will serve as Film Liaison for Shasta and Tehama Counties, bringing his experience as an accomplished filmmaker, strong community relationships, and passion for our region to the role. I have every confidence that he will continue building meaningful partnerships and creating new opportunities for filmmakers and our communities.

As I reflect on the last decade, my overwhelming emotion is gratitude. Although my position is changing, my commitment to California's film industry-and to the incredible people who make it possible-remains the same. I look forward to continuing our partnerships in this new role while cheering on the continued success of the UpState California Film Commission for many years to come.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving this remarkable region. It has truly been one of the greatest honors of my career.

With heartfelt appreciation,
Sabrina Jurisich, Regional Film Commissioner
