Blue Moon Delivers Critical Site Preparation for U.S. Army Training and Recruitment Film Production

Blue Moon was recently contacted to assist with a time-sensitive location preparation project for the United States Army. The Army had secured a 10-acre site in California for a recruitment commercial and military training exercises, including nighttime operations involving Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters performing touch-and-go landings and takeoffs.
The deal to secure the location had been negotiated months in advance, and the Army had been assured the property would be ready for use by the scheduled prep date. However, just days before production, it became clear that the site had not been properly maintained. Illegal dumping had occurred throughout the property, and dense overgrowth of desert grasses and weeds-some reaching heights of 12 to 15 feet-covered most of the area. The vegetation was so thick that visibility was severely limited, making the site unsuitable for filming and flight operations.
With production deadlines approaching, the Army required immediate assistance. The site needed to be cleared and made operational in a matter of hours rather than days.
Blue Moon accepted the challenge and quickly mobilized personnel, equipment, and resources. Crews worked efficiently to cut, remove, and haul away massive amounts of overgrown vegetation and debris. Much of the site was covered with Giant Wildrye grass, which provides habitat for local wildlife. Before clearing operations began, crews implemented wildlife-scattering procedures to minimize impacts on animals inhabiting the area.
Working under an accelerated timeline, Blue Moon successfully transformed the property, removing overgrowth, clearing debris, and restoring safe access throughout the site. The location was delivered production-ready, allowing the Army's training exercises and commercial filming to proceed as scheduled.
The project was completed on time, the operation was a success, and Blue Moon once again demonstrated its ability to respond to urgent, large-scale site preparation challenges.
Whether your production requires location cleanup, brush removal, pressure washing, debris hauling, or other site-preparation services, Blue Moon has the experience, manpower, and rapid-response capabilities to help keep your project on schedule and production-ready.
