And for one night, Bullitt comes home. This is a rare opportunity, on October 17, 2026-the 58th anniversary of its original release date-we will watch Bullitt on an original 35mm film print I obtained through Warner Bros. Archives, projected in the Steven J. Ross Theater on the backlot of Warner Bros. Studios. Near the theater will be a film-accurate 1968 Bullitt Mustang on display, offering a fantastic photo opportunity for all attendees, the physical embodiment of cinematic history, together in one extraordinary night.

Bullitt Night is produced by Bullitt.Studio founder Gregory Harrison, with proceeds benefiting Boys Republic, a private, nonprofit, boarding school in Chino Hills, California. Boys Republic is dedicated to guiding troubled and at-risk teenagers toward productive, self-reliant, and fulfilling lives. It is also where a young Steve McQueen resided in 1946; McQueen credited the school with giving him the discipline to turn his life around.



Bullitt was released on October 17, 1968, and was a critical success, praised for its screenplay, editing, music, and action sequences. The film's car chase sequence is regarded as one of the most influential in motion picture history. It is considered the Gold Standard and it changed how chase scenes are filmed to this very day. Bullitt also received several awards and nominations, including an Academy Award for Best Film Editing and a nomination for Best Sound, in addition to many other accolades earned in filmmaking.

The film's impact extends far beyond Hollywood. The 1968 Ford Mustang GT fastback driven by McQueen became one of the most recognizable automobiles in movie history, helping establish an enduring connection between the Ford Mustang and American cinema.

A True Theatrical Experience

For many guests, Bullitt Night may be their first opportunity to experience the film in a genuine theatrical environment rather than on a television, computer or home streaming system. The screening is being designed as a true big-screen presentation, with a screen approximately 60 feet across and immersive surround sound, allowing audiences to experience the scale, editing, photography and sound of Bullitt in a way that is increasingly rare nearly six decades after its original theatrical release.

There will be a Silent Auction where you can win a flight in a World War II fighter/trainer aircraft from the Palm Springs Air Museum; a large, explosive, over-the-top floral arrangement with die casts of the famous cars from the chase scene in the movie (see below); movie posters printed directly from the original artwork in the studios' archives and signed by the McQueen family, and; other items. So bid well, because the proceeds benefit at-risk youths in the care of Boys Republic.



The evening will also feature ABC-7's Automotive Reporter, Dave Kunz, as our special guest emcee who will bring together people connected to the worlds of film, television, automobiles, Mustang culture and the legacy of Steve McQueen.

At its heart, however, Bullitt Night is about the film itself - the people who made it, the automobile that became part of its mythology, and the continuing cultural impact of a movie that helped redefine what a modern American action film could become.

And there is a particularly meaningful connection to the evening's charitable beneficiary. Boys Republic, where McQueen spent part of his youth, will benefit from the celebration, connecting the legacy of the man at the center of Bullitt with an organization that played a meaningful role in his early life.
