Sheri Davis To Receive Prestigious Trailblazer Award at the
1st Annual Location Managers Guild Of America Awards
Saturday, March 29 at the Writers Guild Theater
By: Location Managers Guild of America | March 14, 2014

Sheri Davis, Director of the Inland Empire Film Commission, has been selected by the Board of Directors of the Location Managers Guild of America (LMGA) to be honored with the organization's prestigious Trailblazer Award, it was announced today by LMGA President, Nancy Haecker.
The Trailblazer Award celebrates someone who has been a leader in his or her field and furthers the recognition of the Location Professional in motion picture and television production. Davis was selected to receive this award for her vision of focusing long-overdue attention to the world of film and TV Location Professionals, who play a vital role in the production industry. While championing this cause, Davis was primarily responsible for the creation of the California On-Location Awards (COLA) that annually honors Location Professionals for their work in print, commercials, television and features in the state of California. She continues her tireless efforts to promote filming in the Inland Empire. The award will be presented at the 1st Annual Location Managers Guild of America Awards on Saturday, March 29 at the Writers Guild Theater.
As previously announced, other awards to be presented at the event are the Eva Monley Award to Oscar®-winner Alexander Payne, the Humanitarian Award to Oscar®-winner Haskell Wexler and the Lifetime Achievement Award to highly regarded Commercial Location Scout Scott Dewees.
Additional awards will be given to honor Location Professionals who excel in their craft and whose work is visually evident in the final product, to outstanding film commissions, as well as producers, studios and production companies for exceptional locations in feature films and television programs.
2014 LMGA Awards Sponsors include Presenting Sponsor: Greater Ft. Lauderdale / Broward County Office of Film and Entertainment; Gold Level Sponsor: Golden Oak Ranch, Pacific Production Services, Reel Security Corp.; Silver Level Sponsors: The Edison, Film USVI, I 25 Studios, Lacy Street Production Center, The Manor Hotel, Montana Film Office, North Carolina Visitors Bureau, Oakwood Worldwide, Pasadena Film Office, Santa Clarita Film Office, Wyoming Film Office.
About the LMGA Honorary Awards:
LMGA Honorary Awards are given at the discretion of the Board of Directors and chosen by vote of the Board of Directors. The Eva Monley Award is given to a producer, director, actor or other industry-related professional who embraces, enhances or supports the work of Location Professionals. The Humanitarian Award is given to industry or non-industry members who have made outstanding, unselfish contributions, which promote and enhance the work of Location Professionals while benefiting the community. The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to Location Professionals whose body of work represents the highest level of achievement and professionalism over an illustrious career in features, TV, commercial or print advertising.
About the Eva Monley Award:
Eva Monley was the go-to location scout in remote African locations for John Huston, Otto Preminger and David Lean. Immensely curious, capable and self-reliant, Eva thrived in a peripatetic film career that spanned fifty years. Her many credits include: Lawrence of Arabia, The African Queen, Exodus and The Man Who Would Be King.
About the LMGA:
The Location Managers Guild of America is an organization of experienced career professionals in the motion picture, television, commercial and print production industries. The Guild promotes awareness of the goals and achievements of its members to the general public and within the industry through creative, educational, and philanthropic programs. LMGA members are dedicated to the establishment of professional standards of personal conduct and business ethics. They support the formation of strong links with business members, governmental agencies and local communities. The Location Managers Guild of America, founded in 2003, is a 501 (c) 6, non-profit corporation dedicated to the promotion and interests of members and relations with the general public, communities and industry partners. The LMGA is not a labor union. They do not represent Location Managers/Scouts in wage or working condition negotiations, leaving this responsibility to their unions. www.locationmanagers.org
