Publicists Announce 50th Anniversary Luncheon

By: Leonard Morpurgo | June 26, 2012

The Publicists of the International Cinematographers Guild (IATSE Local 600) have set the date of their 50th anniversary ICG Publicists Awards Luncheon. It will be in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 22, 2013, positioned, as usual, two days before the Oscars®.

Major celebrities have always attended this event, but the golden anniversary is expected to attract an unusually glittering crowd.

"This golden anniversary celebration will reflect the glitz and excitement that publicists bring to the entertainment industry," said ICG President Steven Poster. "This promises to be a highlight of the 2013 awards season."

"There is no question that publicists are integral to the ultimate success of movies and television shows," said Awards Committee Chairman Henri Bollinger, who has been involved with the luncheon since its inception and has served as chairman for the past 31 years. "This is our annual opportunity to champion our craft and our creativity."

Awards are presented in the following categories: Motion Picture Showman of the Year, Television Showman of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, Maxwell Weinberg Publicist Award for a Television Campaign and separately for a Movie Campaign, the Les Mason Award for Career Achievement in Publicity, Excellence in Unit Still Photography and the Bob Yeager Award for Community Service.

About the International Cinematographers Guild:
The International Cinematographers Guild (IATSE Local 600) represents more than 7,000 members who work in film, television and commercials as Directors of Photography, Camera Operators, Visual Effects Supervisors, Still Photographers, Publicists and all members of camera crews. The first cinematographers union was established in New York in 1926, followed by unions in Los Angeles and Chicago, but it wasn't until 1996 that Local 600 was born as a national guild. ICG's ongoing activities include the Emerging Cinematographer Awards and the Publicists Awards Luncheon. The Guild also publishes the award-winning ICG Magazine. Cameraguild.com
