Executive Chef, Delgado serves up at the delectable Hard Rock on Hollywood Blvd

By: Kristi Schaffter | February 29, 2012

Chef Leonard Delgado's passion for food began at a young age in his mom's kitchen in San Jose. Not unlike today, young Leonard spent countless hours in the kitchen creating savory meals and decadent pastries that wowed the entire family. Delgado's first break came early when he dropped out of high school to start an apprenticeship with certified master pastry chef Max Ackerman in Switzerland specializing in French and Swiss pastry.

At age 24, Delgado was hired as chef of Fontana's Italian Restaurant in Cupertino, cooking up bolognaise for the tech world's future giants. Later he went to work for the Department of Defense, at NAS Moffett Field in Sunnyvale, CA, where he went through intense training in preparing meals in proper protocol and of highest quality for heads of state and high ranking government officials including Jordan's King Hussein, Vice President Dan Quayle, and Governors Pete Wilson and Jerry Brown. Delgado went on to hold executive chef and partner positions at restaurants such as The Charthouse and The Clubhouse in Costa Mesa CA.

As Hard Rock Cafe Executive Chef, Delgado serves up the delectable Hard Rock specialties that have made the Hard Rock Cafe an international favorite for over 40 years. In addition to the Hard Rock favorites, Delgado's specialties also include creating special event menus that are second to none. Offering both on-site and off-site catering (for groups large and small), Delgado's special event menu creations showcase the freshest meat and seafood as well as locally grown produce and housemade pastries.

"We're undergoing a renaissance" Chef Leonard says of his tweaks to the traditional menu "We're still loud, we're still fun and we're still rock and roll, but I want our guest to say 'I went there and the food was phenomenal - oh, and I got a t-shirt too'"
