BALINALE Continues to Attract International Films and Global Filmmakers
BALINALE International Film Festival exhibits at the AFCI Film Locations Trade Show industry event of international and regional service companies, film festivals, commissioners and production houses providing information on incentives, film locations, and business and support services. Locations is held June 27-29 2013 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, USA. BALINALE 2013 will celebrate the art of global cinema in presenting all genres of mainstream, independent, documentary and short films from around the world. The weeklong event takes place at Cinema XXI Beachwalk Kuta on Bali from October 4-10. BALINALE is the only international film festival in Indonesia and recognized internationally for the quality and diversity of its programming and its professional delivery of the associated events. Known for its specialized knowledge and importance in promoting films from Indonesia and the potential film industry growth within the region, BALINALE hosted the ASEAN Film Focus 2011, is appointed Consulting Organization for Asia Pacific Screen Awards (Brisbane, Australia) and ASEAN International Film Festival & Awards (Kuching, Malaysia), is supported by Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) and affiliated with the Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet) of 16 member countries, actively promoting production in the region and contributing to the overall development of the Asian film industry.

This year's seventh annual festival coincides with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders Meeting, CEO Summit and 'Unthinkable Week' in Bali and hosted by founding member Indonesia. According to Deborah Gabinetti, Festival Director and Co-Founder, 'Many of APEC's 21 member economies support strong film industries recognizing the importance of film as an effective way of leveraging a country's visibility and boost their economic and tourism potential. This is an excellent opportunity for Indonesia to learn from their experience in developing this vitally important creative industry '.

International film industry professionals are invited to participate in the festival and explore the possibilities the country has to offer in the form of locations, story ideas and creative resources.
Recent international productions filming throughout Indonesia and associated with the festival include; Sony Pictures Eat Pray Love (Bali); Universal Pictures Savages (Moyo); QED International Alex Cross (Bali), Magidson Films' Samsara (Java and Bali); Warner Bros. Pictures IMAX Under the Sea 3D (Komodo) and Born to be Wild 3D (Kalimantan). Acting not only as entertainment, BALINALE program includes; Film Industry Forums, Product Demonstrations, Children's Charity Program and a year-long series of Educational Workshops & Seminars conducted by award winning filmmakers including; Lee Chang-dong, Davina Belling, Donna Smith, Stan Wlodkowski, David Michod, Jan Chapman, Xue Xiaolu, Rachel Perkin, Richard Horowitz and Leo Shi Young.

The annual festival has steadily built on its number of domestic and international audience, attending filmmakers, educational programs, film screenings and participating countries. BALINALE 2012 presented 34 films from 13 countries with Audience Choice Award Winners; Lovely Man (Indonesia), Ochre and Ink (Australia), and Luminaris (Argentina). Festival Co-Founder Christine Hakim says, 'We believe by attracting worldwide attention to Bali and Indonesia in general, this festival helps contribute to the local community and create more global awareness of the country, its culture and arts'.

BALINALE presents fiction, documentary, feature and shorts from around the world with programming from global submissions, nominees and award winners from international film festivals and associations.
