PGA Expands 4th Annual ProShow Competition
By: 42West | February 14, 2013
ProShow development partners now include 20th Century Fox for Feature Film, Ryan Seacrest Productions for Reality Television and Maker Studios for Online Content. The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced today the launch of the fourth annual PGA Producers Showcase (ProShow) competition, taking place in conjunction with the Produced By Conference (PBC) to be held June 8-9, 2013 and hosted by 20th Century Fox.
The 2013 competition will feature two new categories - Reality Television and Online Content - along with the original Feature Film category. Development partners for this year's ProShow are Fox International Productions for Film; Ryan Seacrest Productions for Reality Television; and multi-channel network Maker Studios for Online Content.
In each of the two new categories, three finalists will be chosen, while five will be selected for feature film. Ultimately, judges will determine a single winner for each category. All of the finalists will receive complimentary admission to this year's Produced By Conference and compete for a package of cash and prizes. Additionally, the winners in each category will enter into a development deal with the partners for their project.
"The Producer's Showcase has grown each year, and with our new development partners we can offer a concrete path to greenlight," said Stu Levy, Co-chair of the PGA's International Committee and Chair of the PGA Producers Showcase. "With the addition of reality television and web series, ProShow provides these visionary producers with a platform for opportunity."
In 2013, applicant's projects in all categories will be initially reviewed and selected by a panel of prominent Producers Guild members. Finalists and winners will be chosen in conjunction with executives from the respective partner companies. Past judges have included Gary Goetzman, Marshall Herskovitz, Gale Anne Hurd, Stu Levy, Bill Stuart and Paula Wagner, among many others. Judges for this year's expanded competition will be announced shortly.
The finalists will be revealed in May 2013 and invited to Los Angeles to participate in the Produced By Conference. While in attendance, they will meet with the ProShow's development partners to discuss their projects in detail and compete for the grand prizes.
Eligible producers can register at Withoutabox, submitting their screenplay synopsis, bio and application. For more information regarding guidelines and the application process, please visit: https://www.withoutabox.com/login/9011 or email proshow@producersguild.org.
The early-bird entry fee is $55 before March 15, 2013, regular entry fee is $75 before March 29, 2013 and late entry fee is $95 up until April 12, 2013.
