We are happy to announce the development on a new virtual lens technology that will allow visual effects and compositing artists to apply an authentic lens look in one step. Demonstrated for the first time at FMX Conference in Stuttgart, Germany, this new technology replicates the visual characteristics and animated behavior of actual lenses on computer-generated content. It leverages physically based lens performance to deliver real optics characteristics throughout each frame's individual lens setting within a sequence.
Being part of the CinCraft ecosystem, the new technology will strengthen the connection between production and post-production by enabling post-production professionals to talk and apply the same visual language that cinematographers and directors expect.
We will keep you upated about further developments in the months to come. You can learn more by clicking the link below.
All the best,
Your ZEISS Cinematography Team

FMX Seminar

In a seminar at FMX, Jonathan Demuth and Marius Jerschke from ZEISS will present the new technology along with Nicolas Borens, Head of 2D Film at MPC Paris. They will discuss Nicolas' experience testing this new technology and his personal assessment of the potential impact on an artist's work.
