ICG Produces 2 Panels at Cine Gear 2019
Sessions Focus on HDR Content Creation and Career Building

The International Cinematographers Guild, (ICG, IATSE Local 600) is producing two panels at the upcoming Cine Gear Expo to be held at Paramount Studios, both on Saturday, June 1.

The first panel is titled "Landing the Gig and Building a Career," with panelists explaining how camera crew members and others in the industry can market themselves and plot a career. This is a business of freelancers and every freelancer is a CEO.

Panelists include talent agent Bill Dispoto, President of Dattner Dispoto & Associates; leading Publicist Sheryl Main; Cinematographer and ICG National President Steven Poster, ASC; David Hirschmann, SOC, Camera Operator; Isiah "Donte" Lee, Director of Photography; and Yen Nguyen, Camera Assistant, and will show how to structure a strategic vision. Michael Chambliss, ICG's Advanced Production Technology Specialist, will moderate. Session will take place at the Sherry Lansing Theatre from 10:15 to 11:30 AM.

The second panel, "HDR On-Set: Are You Ready?" will be held at Screening Room 5, 2:00 to 3:00 PM. Directors of Photography Ken Glassing ("Lucifer") and Adrian Peng Correia ("GLOW"), Digital Imaging Technician Daniel Skinner ("Lucifer"), and Supervising Digital Intermediate Colorist at Light Iron, Ian Vertovec ("GLOW") will discuss how creating content for both HDR and SDR exhibition impacts the crafts. They will examine what the shift from six-stop to 14-stop dynamic range displays with an expanded color palette means for preproduction planning, on-set practices and post. They will also address shooting for HDR in lower budget scenarios and current trade-offs in finishing for both SDR and HDR viewing. Michael Chambliss, ICG's Advanced Production Technology Specialist, will moderate.

ICG President Steven Poster, ASC, said, "I'm very pleased the ICG is holding these two timely sessions at Cine Gear Expo which we consider an excellent environment for professional development and sharing best practices with our members and the industry."
