PRODUCERS GUILD OF AMERICA PRESENTS THIRD ANNUAL PRODUCERS SHOWCASE (PROSHOW) COMPETITION

By: Christopher de Haan | February 16, 2012

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced today the launch of the third annual PGA Producers Showcase (ProShow) competition, taking place in conjunction with the 2012 Produced By Conference (PBC) to be held June 8-10, 2012. Ten finalists will receive free admission to this year's PBC where they will participate in one-onone meetings with top Hollywood financiers, studios and production companies. A grand-prize winning project will be awarded $20,000 in prizes, and the nine remaining finalists will each receive $500 cash prizes.

The ProShow offers a unique opportunity for foreign and domestic independent producers to
realize their vision on the big screen. Developed by the PGA's International Committee and
initiated in 2010, the ProShow aims to help producers initiate business relationships, co-develop
compelling projects and spearhead investments. The ProShow accepts feature-length screenplay
submissions for both international and domestic projects.

"Each year, the Producers Showcase generates an impressive caliber of submissions from around
the world, and we are looking forward to even more this year," said Stu Levy, Chair of the PGA's
International Committee and Co-Chair of the PGA Producers Showcase. "I am excited that the
Guild supports independent producers through ProShow program, and that we continue to make
improvements that will provide our finalists with even more ways to get their films made."

Last year, the ProShow program was expanded from 2010's International Film Co-Production
Showcase (CoProShow), which solicited entries from international film producers only, to
include domestic producers, too. This year, applicants' projects will be reviewed and selected by
a panel of prominent Producers Guild members including Gary Goetzman, Marshall Herskovitz,
Gale Anne Hurd, Stu Levy, Bill Stuart and Paula Wagner, among many others.

Ten finalists will be announced May 1, 2012 and invited to Los Angeles to participate at PBC. At
the finale of the conference one grand-prize winner, chosen by the financiers, will be presented
with more than $20,000 in prizes. Second and third place prizes will be awarded as well. There
will be a special ceremony for the 2012 ProShow winners at PBC.

Projects must be a feature-length screenplay, packaged for theatrical release. Eligible producers
can register at Withoutabox, submitting their screenplay synopsis, bio and application. For more
information regarding guidelines and the application process, please visit:
www.producedbyconference.com/proshow or email proshow@producersguild.org. The early-bird
entry fee is $55 before March 13, 2012, regular entry fee is $75 before March 27, 2012 and late
entry fee is $95 up until April 17, 2012.

The 2012 PBC will be held at the Sony Pictures Studio lot in Culver City, CA, June 8-10, 2012.
The Guild announced an important new presenting sponsor this year, the International CES ®,
produced by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) ® which will support PBC events, as
well as provide significant new programming opportunities. Reaching across film, television and
new media industries, PBC is an educational forum that attracted more than 1,100 people last
year and involves acclaimed producers, including countless Academy Award®-winning
filmmakers and Emmy® Award winners, as well as the next generation of creative entrepreneurs.
The 2012 PBC event is chaired by Tracey Edmonds, Marshall Herskovitz, Rachel Klein and Gary
Lucchesi. For more information on the Produced By Conference, visit
www.producedbyconference.com. The 2012 PBC will be held independent of the Association of
Film Commissioners International (AFCI) Locations Trade Show.

All profits from the Produced By Conference are reinvested into Producer Guild member
services, including education, industry promotion, production standards development, market
research and legislative advocacy. To review last year's event details and to receive 2012 updates, visit http://www.producedbyconference.com.
