INTERNATIONAL CINEMATOGRAPHERS GUILD ANNOUNCES NAB SHOW LINEUP

ICG ANNOUNCES NAB SHOW LINEUP
LOS ANGELES - Members of the International Cinematographers Guild (IATSE, Local 600) will be involved in more than two dozen events at the NAB Show this year, in addition to the Guild's previously announced hosted panels: Catnapped! Key and Peele's 'Keanu' (April 19, 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM) and Drones: Opening New Vistas to Content (April 20, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM). The Keanu session will focus on on the creative collaboration between director Peter Atencio and cinematographer Jas Shelton when they worked together on Keanu. The second panel is a super session about filmmaking with drones, the new tool in the storyteller's toolbox. Panelists will delve into pre-production and production, technology, safety and permitting.

MONDAY, APRIL 18

Amityville's Next Chapter

Local 600 President Steven Poster, ASC will be at the Canon booth discussing shooting effects and low light with the EOS C500 at 3200 ISO and matching the established look while using the EOS C300 Mark II to shoot pick ups.

Local 600 member James Neihouse, ASC reveals his years-long preparations and last-minute adaptations for this IMAX-NASA collaboration. "A Beautiful Planet" is a breathtaking portrait of Earth from space, providing a unique perspective and increased understanding of our planet and galaxy as never seen before.

Filmmakers Panel at Panasonic

This panel will feature Local 600 members Roberto Schafer, ASC, AIC, Dejan Georgevich, ASC, Frank Prinzi, ASC and Michael FitzMaurice in a discussion about their experiences using Panasonic's line of digital cinema cameras, the VariCam 35 and the VariCam LT, on features, narrative series, short films and national TV ads.

Handheld Camera Stabilizers

Local 600 member Sam Nuttmann will be appearing on the Teradek Talk Show at NAB Show to talk about handheld camera stabilizers such as the Freefly MoVI, DJI Ronin, etc., as well as other emerging camera technologies and the roles they play on set.

Academy Award winner David Strump, ASC, will present and demystify High Dynamic Range, Sony's ultra wide color gamut, S-GAMUT3, High Frame Rates and discuss his recent work using the F55, F65 digital motion picture cameras.

The SOC Presents: How Did Ya Get That Shot?

Meet the amazing camera operators who have gotten the shots that defy description and bend reality from your favorite feature films and television shows. Members of the Society of Camera Operators will screen clips and discuss how they did it, their onset challenges, and the gear they used to capture such breathtaking footage. Local 600 members Andrew Shulkind and Curtis Clark, ASC will be a part of a panel about ACES hosted by Canon and moderated by Tim Smith.

"The Jungle Book": New Technology Meets Classic Storytelling
2:45 PM - 3:45 PM | South Hall | S220
Next generation filmmaking meets archetypal storytelling in director Jon Favreau's adaptation of "The Jungle Book." To help create the film's seamless blend of live-action photography and photorealistic CGI animals and environments, two-time Academy Award winner Rob Legato designed a new virtual production process that bridged analogue filmmaking with the latest in real-time digital rendering and playback. Moderated by ICG Magazine Executive Editor David Geffner.

Lytro Presents: Light Field Technology & the Future of Cinema

Local 600 Still Photographer Jeffery Garland came up with a slider called the Camera Goat last year. He will be exhibiting at C12039 in the Central Hall.

April 18 and 19
Local 600 member Cirina Catania is partnered in a software solutions company that will be exhibiting on April 18 and 19 and showing some very interesting solutions for inputting metadata during the shoot. LumberjackSystem is an inexpensive keywording tool that allows us to enter complex metadata (person, location, activity, other info) quickly in real time on iPads or iPhones during the shoot. It also allows us to keyword existing legacy footage (for example, stock footage) and also use transcripts with FCPX. LumberjackSystem.com (with co-founders, Philip Hodgetts and Gregory Clarke), will be presenting a workshop on keywording and using Transcript Mode with FCPX at 1:30 pm Tuesday, April 19th at the Renaissance Hotel, Rainbow Room, Las Vegas.
