AbelCine Announces ALEXA Training Classes in New York and Los Angeles

By: Anna Feil | August 8, 2011

AbelCine's Training Department will be presenting a series of ARRI ALEXA Workshops at their New York and Los Angeles facilities. The Los Angeles workshops will be held on August 30-31, and the New York workshops will be held on September 12-13.

The workshops are presented over the course of two days, and attendees have the option to attend the full workshop or either day on its own.

The first day of the course is focused on ALEXA operation. In the morning, attendees will learn camera specifics such as menu functions and recording modes. LUT use and practical shooting applications will be the subject of the second half of the day.

The second day is focused on ALEXA workflows and post-production. The first half of the day is focused on ARRIRAW, explaining the file structure, transcoding options, matching to on-set looks, and processing the material. Engineers from Codex Digital will teach how to use their system and show how it integrates into post.

In the second half of the day, AbelCine experts will demonstrate workflow techniques for bringing ALEXA footage into Final Cut Pro and AVID, creating dailies, look management, and ARRIRAW ingest and conforming. They will be joined by engineers from Assimilate for a walk-though of how to efficiently move material between production and post using their tools. Finally, IRIDAS engineers will show how their SpeedGrade and FrameCycler software can manage ALEXA footage.

Visit training.abelcine.com for a full class description and registration information. To ensure a hands-on learning environment for all participants, seating is limited. Attendees are encouraged to register early to ensure availability.
