The PMA has also announced that the Society of Composers & Lyricists (SCL) will serve as Co-Presenter of a PMC panel entitled "Writing the Next Library Hit: Composing Techniques for Production Music." That panel, which will be moderated by composer Benoit Grey, will explore the question, "How is writing for production music different than songwriting or film scoring?" The SCL is committed to advancing the interests of the film and television music community.

Regarding this year's PMC event, Ashley Irwin, President of the Society of Composers and Lyricists, said, "Composers are the foundation of production music, so we were thrilled when the PMA decided to expand its membership to include them, since many of our members rely on production music as an integral part of their livelihood. In light of this, the SCL created a Production Music Committee chaired by long time SCL Board member Benoit Grey, as a way of liaising, on behalf of our members, with the PMA and the production music community. The panel being presented at the conference, which Benoit will moderate, is one of many initiatives we are planning whereby the PMA and the SCL collaborate to give composers the tools and information they need to navigate their way in the production music business." On the evening of Sept. 9th, from 7-9 PM, the PMA will also be launching its first annual "Mark Awards." The new awards event will honor excellence within the Production Music industry. For more information, please see: http://pmamusic.com/themarkawards/
