ScriptDC - Words to "Action!"
ScriptDC is the premier conference for Mid-Atlantic writers, directors, producers and talent to connect with accomplished teachers, consultants and industry professionals. The 2017 conference will be November 17-19, 2017 at American University in Washington, DC.

This year we will have a special focus on independent filmmaking in China. As one of the largest viewing audiences in the world we want to equip regional filmmakers with strategies for having their films reach that audience! Screenings will feature independent Chinese features.

ScriptDC schedule here. We will be continuing to confirm speakers throughout the summer and will share updates! Master classes concentrate on directing, writing for limited series, financing/distribution/marketing, universal storytelling and the feminine heroic journey, and writing for animation. We will have a series of workshops for emerging writers as well. The Directing Master Class is limited to 12 directors.

What is Included in Your Registration?
Friday night features a special presentation by Michael Uslan and David Uslan sharing their insights of working in China followed by a film to be announced soon! Joan Darling's Directing Master Class gets underway Friday evening.

Saturday is a full day of workshops and master classes with Joan Darling, Dara Marks, Diana Kerew, Laurie Scheer, Michelle Mower, Sara Elizabeth Timmins, Michael Uslan, David Uslan, and others. The evening will feature a special reception, awards program, and film screening.

Pitch and script critiques will be on Sunday and we will have a third Chinese independently-produced film to screen. 32 attendees will each have 5 minutes to pitch their scripts to producers and receive a 10-minute critique. There are 28 slots available for script critiques. The first 5 pages of your script will be read by actors. Don't have 5 pages ready to go? Sign up to be in the audience and learn from the experiences of others.

If you would prefer to mail in your registration, you can download the registration form here and send it to our office! Mailing instructions are on the registration form.

To qualify for the student registration, a student ID must be emailed to membership@wifv.org.

NOTE: One-day passes are only applicable to the emerging screenwriting workshops on Saturday or the critiques on Sunday.

Refund Policy: Refunds are available up to 72 hours in advance of the program. No refund will be issued for a cancellation with less than 72 hours notice. If the event is cancelled or rescheduled, refunds will be issued as needed.
