Steve Stafford is a revered pilot in the film industry. As a former Film and Television Director / DP, combined with over with 12,000 hours of helicopter and fixed wing time, Steve brings an extremely unique set of skills to each film set he flies and coordinates on. He is approved by all major Studio Risk Management departments, has his own approved Risk Assessment and Mitigation Manual (SMS) and is often asked to lecture on aviation safety in films. He attends factory safety training every six months on each helicopter, fixed wing and jet aircraft he flies Additionally, he is one of the few helicopter pilots approved by the FAA to conduct Fast Rope insertion and extraction operations using the FBI's extending fast rope system.
