Hydraulics, Pneumatics & Servos Assist Mechanical Effects

Hydraulics refers to the use of pressurized fluids to generate and transmit power to create a mechanical effect in the world of entertainment production. Mechanical effects move solid objects via hydraulics, pneumatics and servos, whether they are animated mannequins or doors that automatically open and close on a set. Pneumatics use pressurized gas to effect mechanical motion.
Commonly found on location are air compressor accessories, vacuum pumps, and pneumatic tools. Servos produce motorized mechanical motion used in animatronics & puppetry, as well.
