A flying system (theatrical rigging system) is a system of ropes, pulleys and counterweights on a stage set-up that enables crews to quickly & quietly hoist curtains, lights, scenery, stage effects and people, with the system hidden from an audience. A trussing system is constructed by assembling triangular units to form a rigid framework from which items may be hung and displayed. Trussing is commonly used in event production in the assemblage of trade show exhibits.
