Headwear is any element worn to cover one's head. These items may protect hair against weather elements, keep hair contained, or be religious or simply decorative in function. Costume designers will use hats (brimmed or brimless), caps (no brim), and helmets (rigid to offer protection from weapons) in dressing talent to complete a visual and/or historical "look".
